Car manufacturers are being urged by the government to combat threats from hackers as vehicles become more intelligent.  The new generation of internet-connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) will have to be better protected from hackers, under new guidance issued today.

Measures to be put before Parliament will also mean that insuring modern vehicles will seek to provide protection for consumers if technologies fail, said the Department for Transport.
