Many car park ticket machines are still rejecting new £1 coins, which became legal tender on 28 March and now outnumber the old round coin design, which ceases to be legal tender on 15 October. However, it has emerged that some local authorities which have not completed the process of upgrading their machines to accept the new coins are continuing to enforce parking as usual.
