Charities call for reform of debt recovery sector

Reforms that were intended to protect people in debt are not working, a group of charities has claimed. The 2014 Taking Control of Goods Act reformed bailiff law in England and Wales, but has so far had only limited success in protecting people from unfair practices, states a report produced by AdviceUK, Christians Against Poverty, Citizens Advice, Money Advice Trust, Children’s Society, Z2K and the StepChange Debt Charity.
