Transport for the West Midlands (TfWM) is to take over day-to-day operations of the Midland Metro light rail system when National Express Group’s contract ends in October 2018.
TfWM said bringing the operations in-house would enable profits earned by the system to be invested into expanding the network. The new company, Midland Metro Ltd, will be wholly-owned by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
