Visitors to hospitals were issued an estimated £13.3m in parking fines last year according to a FOI request by online parking place YourParkingSpace.co.uk. The parking charge notices (PCNs) issued at NHS sites ranged in price from £10 to £100.

The company’s analysis, based on 136 NHS trust responses, showed that one in ten of the 159,000 tickets issued were appealed, of which two-thirds were successfully overturned.
