Reading council will introduce parking controls for streets around Royal Berkshire Hospital

Reading Borough Council is to end free parking in streets around the Royal Berkshire Hospital, despite a objections by some residents as well as people working at the hospital.

The council has agreed plans to introduce pay & display charges for 625 spaces in the area, and place restrictions on a further 741.

The charges were opposed by hospital staff, who presented the council with a petition of more than 8,000 signatures.
