Judging by the complaints, sackings and resignations, the presenters of Top Gear are a provocative bunch, both on and off camera.

While it seems likely that Messrs Clarkson, Hammond and May won’t be returning to the BBC motoring show, it is not yet clear what is happening to the team’s fourth member, The Stig.

If the silent but speedy driver disappears from the screen he seems to have a career ahead of him as parking concierge.
