Edinburgh to extend 20mph limit to 80% of road network

Councillors in Edinburgh have approved plans to roll-out 20mph limits across 80% of residential streets in the city as well as on main roads in the city centre.

Implementation of the signed-only is expected to take three years. A consultation attracted 2,585 responses, of which the council says 60% were supportive and 36% were opposed to the proposals. Feedback has prompted the retention of 30mph limits on a further six miles of main road.
