Hospital tests ice detecting ‘cat’s eye’ on access road

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is piloting a smart temperature alert system for detecting icy road conditions housed in a robust road stud.

The PATeye Ice Detection system was developed by New Zealand-based lighting company Solar Bright. The system, supplied in the UK by YESSS Electrical, uses a solar powered cat’s eye-style road stud lighting to detect icy road temperatures.
