Car crime overlooked by some police forces, says HMIC

Some police forces are no longer seriously investigating vehicle crimes, a report by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) has revealed.

An inspection of police forces in England and Wales by HMIC, published in September, suggested that policing in the UK is a “postcode lottery” and that victims of crime are being “encouraged” to investigate offences themselves.
