Police oppose non-standard speed limit

Oxfordshire County Council is to cut a speed limit on a rural road from 60mph to 30mph despite opposition from Thames Valley Police, which says the proposal is inconsistent with DfT speed limit guidance.

Oxfordshire says a speed survey on the 700-metre section of road between the villages of Wootton and Old Boars Hill shows average/85th percentile speeds of 27/34mph westbound and 26/30mph eastbound.
