The switch to unattended bus camera enforcement has seen a dramatic rise in compliance, says Manchester’s CCTV manager Danny Holden. The city council started monitoring its bus lanes in 2006, with two operatives logging contraventions from a control centre. Holden says: “That meant they could only look at two lanes at any given time, which meant potentially 85% of contraventions would not be spotted.”
