Developers in the US city of Minnesota want to build a golf course and putting ranges on the roof of two city centre car parks. This idea, which struck us as novel when we published it last month, turns out to be one with a strong heritage.

Reading the fascinating English Heritage book Carscapes revealed that the idea of turning a car park into a golf course was pitched over 70 years ago in London by Lex Garages.
