ALLOWING longer lorries on Britain’s roads would not jeopardise road safety, according to an industry-commissioned report.
Kimberly Clark, which manufactures products such as Andrex toilet rolls and Kleenex tissues, commissioned the University of Huddersfield to examine the impacts of allowing 25.25 metre lorries on Britain’s roads, while maintaining the maximum weight of 44 tonnes. Such longer lorries are used in the Netherlands where they are restricted to approved routes.
