A new solar panel array being installed at the Gunwharf Quays shopping centre in Portsmouth will generate 35% of the power needed to run its 10,000-space car park.
Lawrence Redmond, deputy manager of Gunwharf Quays, says it is the biggest solar energy installation on a shopping centre and car park in the UK. “The photovoltaic (PV) array will generate sustainable and free electricity for the car park,” he says.
