A review of debt management to ensure the fair treatment of customers has been launched by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). The debt sector has become increasingly complex, featuring many new businesses and more online advertising, as a growing number of people seek debt advice, said the OFT.
The review will focus on illegal cold-calling, misleading advertising and copycat websites that look as though they have come from the government or debt charities.
