North Yorkshire Council hopes to secure £250,000 from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority (YNYCA)’s High Street Fund to expand overflow parking at Whitby Abbey Headland.
The plan would see the installation of porous paving slabs so the car park can be used during rainy periods which have left the current surface unusable due to boggy conditions.
North Yorkshire Council’s long-term ambition is to create a second permanent park & ride for Whitby.
