Car mileage and emission targets revised down in Scotland climate strategy

The Scottish Government has proposed to replace its ambitious target of a 20% reduction in car kilometres by 2030, from the recorded 2019 baseline, with a 4% reduction on the car mileage, which is modelled to happen in 2030 without interventions.

Scotland’s draft Climate Change Plan, published last month for public consultation, also includes a target of a 16% reduction in car-based emissions by 2030.
