PoGo Charge has partnered with parking management specialist Intelli-Park to introduce automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera and ticketing systems at selected locations.

The partnership is designed to tackle one of the biggest frustrations for EV drivers – known as ‘ICEing’, where petrol or diesel (internal combustion engined) vehicles block charging bays, preventing access to chargers.

By integrating View360, Intelli-Park’s ANPR technology and enforcement system, PoGo aims to ensure that its ultra-rapid charging bays remain available.

The first site to benefit from this collaboration will be PoGo’s Cwmbran town centre charging hub, which features 16 ultra-rapid 200kW charging bays. The hub has experienced ongoing misuse of EV bays, affecting availability for genuine EV drivers who need them most.

The charging bays will be designated for EV charging only, with non-EV vehicles liable for a parking charge motice (PCN), and EVs permitted to charge for up to 90 minutes.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Intelli-Park to make a real difference for our customers,” said Greg Longden, commercial cirector at PoGo Charge. “We know how frustrating it can be for drivers to arrive at a site and find chargers blocked. This partnership is all about taking proactive steps to protect access for EV drivers and make every PoGo charging experience a positive one.”

Magnus Träff, chief technology officer for Intelli-Park, said: “Our technology is designed to keep parking spaces working as they should, and that includes EV charging bays. By partnering with PoGo Charge, we are ensuring that charging sites are available for those that need them. View360’s monitoring capability ensures that EV drivers can depend on consistent access whenever they need to charge, protecting investment in these assets for site owners.”
