HS2-WCML link plan pushed further into long grass

Work to connect the HS2 high-speed rail line beyond Birmingham to link up with the West Coast Main Line has been delayed by another four years, with a restart date now set for 2029.

The decision was announced by HS2 Ltd as part of a “reset” for the struggling project, which has faced massive cost overruns and repeated delays.
