Ely investment promise could boost for more east to west rail freight

The Government has said it will upgrade railways in the Ely area of East Anglia to enable trains to remove 98,000 long-distance lorry journeys to and from the ports from the roads each year. However, it has provided no timescales or costs for the work, which has been on the cards for almost a decade.
