Simplicity of fares could entice car users during ScotRail pilot

A six-month pilot where ScotRail will charge only off-peak fares throughout the day is expected to attract car users, not only through providing cheaper travel but also by making rail fares easier to understand.

Previous surveys in Great Britain have established that significant numbers of people are deterred from travelling by train because they believe the variety of fares and validities is difficult to understand.
