A spike in vandalism has reduced the size of Greater Manchester’s Cycle Hire fleet due to a backlog of bikes needing repairs. 

The scheme, run for Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) by operator Beryl, was launched in November 2021. Since then, demand for the hire bikes has increased, up from less than 40,000 active users at the start of the year to 64,350 active users.
