Tap on-Tap off payment introduced on Cardiff buses

01 November 2022

Cardiff Bus has announced it has launched a ‘Tap On-Tap Off’ payment scheme to make buying adult single and day tickets easier and more convenient.

Customers tap on by placing their contactless bank card or enabled device onto the ticket machine reader when boarding the bus and tap off when leaving the bus. The system will then work out the best ticket option based on customer journeys, so that they will not get charged more than the price of a day ticket.

The Tap On - Tap Off option is currently only available for adult single or day tickets across all Cardiff Bus services.

The fare will be based on the fare zones that customers travel within. For example, if customers tap on and tap off within the Cardiff fare zone, they will be charged a maximum of £4 per day.
