Despite petrol prices reaching record highs and the sale of new petrol and diesel cars banned from 2030, UK motorists’ appetite for EVs has decreased when comparing interest in 2021 versus 2022

 

Fewer people expect to own an electric car in the next decade compared to 12 months ago, with future interest in EV adoption falling most among the Generation Z age category.

However, research by the CarGurus website found buyers could be convinced to go electric if there were more charging stations (49%) and improvements to range and charge times (47%).
