One in four people who availed themselves of ScotRail’s recent Half Price Seat Sale would have travelled by car instead of train had the promotion not been staged, the operator has revealed.
However, 15% would otherwise have gone by bus. Scottish bus operators are continuing to receive emergency funding to help offset reduced patronage and fares revenue since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
