Top innovators heading to Paris for European Mobility Expo 2022

12 May 2022

A major exhibition showcasing the latest developments in public transport and sustainable mobility takes place in Paris on 7 – 9 June.

European Mobility Expo 2022 brings together manufacturers, operators, energy suppliers, engineering firms, ticketing and passenger information systems developers, along with startups and active mobility stakeholders.

More than 170 exhibitors from across Europe will present new products and services at Pavilion 4 at the Paris Porte de Versailles exhibition centre. The organisers are expecting over 11,000 people to attend the three-day event, including local authority politicians and officers, operators, entrepreneurs and journalists.

GIE Objectif transport public chairman Marc Delayer said: “In the wake of an unprecedented health crisis, EuMo Expo offers an opportunity to strengthen commercial relations, begin new partnerships, meet elected officials from one’s locality and elsewhere, and discover new solutions.”

Sharing new ideas

Keynote presentations will include: ‘Public transport – a key partner for the 2024 Paris Olympics’ and ‘Transport infrastructure and EU funding’.

There will also be talks on: Mobility as a Service (MaaS); shaping mobility to meet the needs of young and elderly people; multi-modal solutions; along with a series of presentations from exhibitors. The event will turn the spotlight on EU initiatives relating to transport, including: the Green Deal; the ‘Fit for 55’ package; the review of the RTE-T Regulation; the ITS Directive.

The event organisers GIE objectif transports publics said: “In January, France took on the rotating presidency of the European Union. Five months on, it’s time for an initial assessment. How has the French presidency contributed to promoting sustainable, smart mobility? What ambitions have emerged for sustainable mobility?”

They add: “The European Union has become a financial partner for many transport infrastructure projects, sometimes unavoidably so, be it through requests for proposals, innovative financial instruments, the Europe Interconnection Mechanism (EIM), structural funds, the Recovery and Resilience Facility, or the European Investment Bank (EIB).

“The new budget programming period for 2021-2027 has begun only recently; what EU instruments are there promoting transport infrastructures? How are they interlinked? What are the key criteria for being entitled to them? Panellists for this discussion will be looking at the different tools for supporting infrastructures and the prerequisites for benefiting from them.”

EuMo Expo is celebrating Talents in five categories: Best young talent; best project manager; best manager; special career service award; web users’ award.

The awards are open to anyone working in mobility across Europe from an industrial company, operator, transport authority, local authority, service company, a non-profit organisation, or a government ministry or department.

The organisers are also running the Smart Move Challenge. This is an international contest that invites startups to put forward an idea, solution, or product facilitating personal mobility that operates or is used collectively or on a sharing basis.

“The Smart Move Challenge is open to emerging new enterprises seeking their first market and yet to find a firm footing in their chosen line of business,” say the event organisers.

There are three categories for entrants: resources and services for users; resources and services for local authorities; resources and services for operations.
