Battery-diesel hybrid train launched by Chiltern

Chiltern Railways has launched the HybridFLEX Britain’s first 100mph capable battery-diesel hybrid train into passenger service. But it’s not a new train. A 20-year-old diesel multipule unit has been fitted with a powerful battery and it’s claimed that it uses 25% less fuel.
