Plans for new unitary councils in Cumbria, North Yorkshire and Somerset have been approved by local government secretary Robert Jenrick.
This will replace the two-tier system of county and district councils with unitary authorities that strengthen local leadership and transform the way services are delivered, said Jenrick.
