Mixed response to reforms but long-term vision is welcomed

Although there have been mixed views on some aspects of the rail reforms to be delivered as a result of the Williams-Shapps White Paper, many in the industry have applauded the inclusion of a 30-year strategy for the railways. 

This will provide “clear and long-term plans for the transformation of the railways to strengthen collaborations, unlock effectiveness and incentivise innovation”, according to the White Paper.
