Plans for mass rapid transit project the Cambridgeshire Autonomous Metro (CAM) look set to be shelved after the election defeat of James Palmer. The Conservative mayor for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough had made the ambitious project the centrepiece of his transport strategy. But he was narrowly beaten by Labour candidate Nik Johnson, who has expressed doubts about the project’s viability.
