Skates intervenes as Cardiff Council floats road charging

Welsh transport minister Ken Skates intervened this week in Cardiff Council’s proposal for a road user charge from which city residents would be exempt.

The council’s new transport White Paper explains that the authority will consider road user charging and a workplace parking levy (WPL) as part of its plan for a low carbon transport system. Any charging mechanism, which would fund public transport, would not be introduced before 2024.
