Jones ‘must not decide fate of M4 relief road’

Welsh first minister Carwyn Jones has been urged by one of his own backbenchers to leave to his successor the decision on whether to proceed with building the controversial M4 Relief Road at Newport.

Jones, who recently announced he will step down in December, said last month that he had not expressed a preference on the new road’s alignment and was unable to do so “because I’ll be the decision-maker who takes the final decision”.
