Labour backbenchers line up to criticise Government on proposal to reduce penalty points from three to two for 'low-end' speeding

The Government came in for considerable criticism from its own backbenchers during the second reading debate on the road safety Bill because of its proposal to reduce the number of penalty points accruing to a motorist caught speeding in a 30mph zone at up to 39mph from three to two (LTT 9 Sep 04).
