Data share trial targets illegal foreign vehicles

Foreign motorists driving illegally in the UK are to be targeted in a trial that aims to track down road tax evaders and those that have not paid driving fines or had their vehicles insured.

The DVLA, HM Revenue & Customs and six police forces will share data during the three-month trial, which starts on 2 November.

Foreign vehicles that stay in the UK for more than six months in any 12-month period must be registered and licensed here. The government estimates that up to 350,000...
