Bus journey numbers up but mileage down slightly

BUS PASSENGER journeys in England increased 2.3% in the year to March 2014 but mileage fell by an estimated 0.3%, according to the latest annual bus statistics for England.

London now accounts for more than half of all English bus journeys – 2.4 billion, as against 1.0 billion for the metropolitan and 1.3 billion for non-metropolitan areas. Concessionary travel accounts for one in three journeys.
