Daventry prepares to invite bids for personal rapid transit pilot project

Daventry District Council is poised to invite personal rapid transit (PRT) system developers to bid for the right to develop a network that could make Daventry a world leader in urban PRT applications.

PRT is a demand responsive automated public transport system intended to rival the convenience of the car. Passengers arriving at a PRT station key-in their destination to a computer and are then transported there non-stop by a vehicle typically with a capacity of two-four passengers.
