Heritage railway commuter plan axed

A proposal to run peak hour commuter trains on the Keighley and Worth Valley heritage railway in West Yorkshire has been dropped on cost grounds. The railway said it would cost £200,000 a year to overhaul their diesel multiple units for the service and construct a shed, and staffing costs would be £270,000 a year, with additional costs for fuel and maintenance.
