Jonathan Smith is missing one very important point (Letters LTT 16 May). If a cyclist collides with a pedestrian, or vice-versa, the outcome rarely includes death on either side. This applies even when the cyclist and the pedestrian share a path, whether legally or not. However, when a motor vehicle, including all the new healthier options, electric, low emissions etc, is in collision with either group death often follows usually on one side.
