This month sees the opening of the Emirates Air Line, a cable car linking the Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Docks in London. For a technology previously known in the UK as a novelty ride at garden festivals, the East London project is a major step forward – the ride may still be novel but it’s designed to offer a turn-up-and-go service to a much wider range of travel markets. So are we likely to see further applications of this technology popping up around the UK in the near...
