Professor José Manuel Viegas, a Portuguese national, has been chosen as Secretary-General-elect of the International Transport Forum.
At their Annual Summit in Leipzig in May, Ministers from the 53 member countries chose Viegas as the next head of the organisation, which has been without a head since the departure of Belgian Carole Coune who was appointed a year ago, but left within a few months to return to SNCB, the Belgian state rail operator.
