Give me control of inner suburban rail services, Johnson tells DfT

London Mayor Boris Johnson has set out his ambition to take over responsibility for managing inner suburban rail services from the Government.

Under his proposals, the DfT would allocate Transport for London a rail budget and, as franchises came up for renewal, inner-suburban services would be specified to Overground standards.
