New camera technology that provides detailed images of faults on overhead rail wires is being rolled out by Network Rail. It is supplying 30 cameras to maintenance delivery units across the UK.

Engineers can safely operate the cameras without turning off the power and closing the line. When carrying out track patrols, engineers can attach the camera to the overhead wire and hold it steady using two stabilising arms on insulated poles.
