Volo and First Great Western on track with first on-train TV entertainment system

UK firm Volo TV is on track to deliver its ground breaking on-train TV entertainment system across First Great Western’s entire high speed fleet.

Volo TV has already reported a weekly doubling in viewing figures of its state-of-the-art touch screen on-demand entertainment systems following a successful pilot scheme launched in late 2009 which saw occupancy rates increase in Riviera Night Sleeper cabins offering the service.

The full Volo TV fit-out of the 54-train First Great Western high speed fleet is expected to be complete by November this year and will see rail travel in the UK match global airline entertainment in the technology stakes thanks to its advanced features including interactive journey tracking, live maps and train speed recorder.

The award-winning system - fitted to seatbacks in a dedicated ‘entertrainment’ carriage - allows passengers to access comedy, drama, children’s television, sport and documentaries, live RSS news feeds and an interactive journey guide by texting for an access code from £1.50.
