The dwindling ranks of the council-owned bus operators look set to be further eroded with news emerging over the Christmas holiday that Ipswich Borough Council is in talks with Go Ahead about the potential sale, albeit a minority stake, of its Ipswich Buses operation.

The news came as Stagecoach concluded its purchase of the tiny 30-vehicle Islwyn Borough Transport business from Caerphilly County Borough Council, despite an attempted legal challenge from bus industry entrepreneur Clayton Jones....
