Yet again London is facing a strike on the Underground, with the RMT balloting for industrial action. The union has made a speciality of flying in the face of reality and change. At a time when redundancies and pay freezes are rife, the RMT leadership believes a 1.5% pay rise this year followed by an above inflation rise next year is not good enough for its £40,000 a year drivers. It's hard to fathom why anyone would reject it given the current economic situation.
