Nexus today welcomed the government's final confirmation of £13.4m funding, which will see 225 ticket machines replaced on the Tyne and Wear Metro system, and passenger control barriers installed at 13 key Metro stations.
The project forms part of Phase One of the Metro: All Change programme, which is a £300m plan to renew and modernise the 30 year-old network.
