Arriva Southern Counties finally decommissioned the final of the buses bought new by Southend Transport under council ownership.

The four Leyland ‘Olympian’ double-deckers with Leyland bodywork went into service in Southend in 1990 and have served the town ever since, including working on the former X1 service to London.

Two of them, fitted with coach seats, will be moved to Kent where they will join Arriva’s New Enterprise Coaches subsidiary at Tonbridge for school...
