Renault-Nissan backs drive for more electric cars in China

The Renault-Nissan alliance is to build electric vehicles in China with car manufacturer Dongfeng Auto. The new tie up, which will be called eGT Energy Automotive, will be 50% owned by Dongfeng, with Nissan and Renault each holding 25%.

China is the world’s biggest EV market, with 256,000 sales last year. The government is offering incentives to companies in the EV sector as part of its efforts to improve air quality.
