MPs ask sector to suggest any changes to new powers over bus services

Lee Baker
02 March 2017

The Commons Public Bill Committee that will scrutinise the Bus Services Bill line-by-line today asks industry experts to suggest amendments to the proposals.

The Bill would give mayoral combined authorities London-style powers to franchise bus services and also give additional powers to elected mayors and local transport authorities with the aim of improving bus services. It would also make data about routes, fares and times available across the country to app developers in a bid to give passengers better information about how to make the most of local bus services.

The Government published draft regulations and guidance last month including on advanced quality partnership schemes

The MPs on the Bill will meet from the 14th March and take written evidence until the 21st March.
